Sarajevo to Travnik transfer
Travnik is one of Bosnia's most charming small towns — a place where Ottoman history, mountain scenery, and culinary tradition converge in a setting that feels authentically untouched by mass tourism. For 150 years it served as the seat of Ottoman viziers who governed Bosnia from this strategic valley beneath the Vlasic mountain, and the layers of that history are visible everywhere: in the hilltop fortress, the painted mosques, the clock tower, and the stone-walled medresa.
The town is also the birthplace of Ivo Andric, Bosnia's Nobel Prize-winning novelist, whose works brought the country's complex history to a global audience. But for many Bosnians, Travnik's real fame rests on something more practical: it is widely considered to have the best cevapi in the entire country. The local style — smaller, spicier, served in a distinctive somun bread — draws food pilgrims from across the region.
At just 90 kilometres from Sarajevo, Travnik makes for a perfect half-day trip or a stop en route to Jajce. The drive takes you through the Bosna River valley, past Visoko and Zenica, into increasingly green and mountainous terrain. A private transfer means you control the schedule — linger over coffee at Plava Voda, climb the fortress walls at sunset, or combine Travnik with other central Bosnian destinations.

Visoko (Bosnian Pyramids)
Controversial archaeological site with pyramid-shaped hills, underground Ravne tunnels, and a visitor park. Whether ancient pyramids or natural formations, it is one of BiH's most visited sites.
Malak Farma (Kakanj)
Family-friendly animal farm near Kakanj with horses, donkeys, goats, rabbits, and peacocks. Petting areas, pony rides, playground, and a cafe with halal food. Very popular with Gulf Arab families. Directly en route to Travnik.

PremiumWhat the road looks like
Leaving Sarajevo, the route follows the M-17 highway through the northern suburbs and into the Bosna River valley. The road passes through Visoko, where the pyramid-shaped Visocica hill is clearly visible from the highway. Continuing northwest through Kakanj and Zenica — Bosnia's industrial heartland — the landscape gradually shifts from urban to pastoral.
After Zenica, the road climbs gently into the Lasva valley. The approach to Travnik is beautiful: the town appears in a narrow valley, the medieval fortress rising above terracotta rooftops, with the snow-capped Vlasic mountain as a backdrop. Your driver navigates the compact town centre to drop you as close to your destination as possible.

Absolutely. Travnik packs a remarkable amount into a small town: the medieval fortress, Plava Voda springs, painted mosques, the Andric museum, and legendary cevapi. Most visitors spend 2-3 hours and wish they had allowed more time.
Travnik-style cevapi are smaller and spicier than the Sarajevo variety, served in a distinctive flat somun bread with raw onion and kajmak (clotted cream). Locals consider them the best in Bosnia. The most famous spots are Hari and Zlatna Pecka.
Yes — this is our most popular combo. Travnik is directly on the road to Jajce. Spend 1.5 hours in Travnik, then continue 70 km to Jajce for the waterfall and fortress. A perfect full-day trip from Sarajevo.
Yes. Visoko is a short detour from the main route, about 35 km from Sarajevo. A 30-minute stop lets you see the pyramid hill and the Ravne tunnel entrance. Your driver knows exactly where to go.
Plava Voda (Blue Water) is a crystal-clear mountain spring that flows through a park area at the edge of Travnik. The setting is magical — cold turquoise water, old stone bridges, shaded walkways, and several traditional restaurants. It is the most relaxing spot in town.
