About this route

Sarajevo to Jahorina transfer

Jahorina is Sarajevo's closest major ski resort and one of the two Olympic mountains that hosted alpine events during the 1984 Winter Olympics. Sitting at an elevation of around 1,500 metres with pistes reaching above 1,900 metres, Jahorina offers reliable snow cover from December through March, modern lift infrastructure, and a growing collection of mountain hotels and restaurants.

The private transfer from central Sarajevo to the Jahorina ski area covers just 30 kilometres and takes around 35 minutes, making it an ideal option for travellers arriving at Sarajevo Airport or staying in the city who want to reach the slopes without the hassle of rental cars or infrequent public buses. Our vehicles accommodate ski and snowboard equipment at no extra charge.

Beyond winter sports, Jahorina is increasingly popular as a summer destination for hiking, mountain biking, and paragliding. The transfer is available year-round, and the short drive makes it easy to combine a day on the mountain with evenings in Sarajevo's vibrant restaurant and cafe scene.

The drive

What the road looks like

The route leaves Sarajevo heading east through the neighbourhood of Lukavica, then climbs steadily on the R-446 regional road toward Pale. Before reaching Pale town centre, the road forks right and begins the mountain ascent proper, winding through dense spruce and pine forests along a well-maintained asphalt road with regular switchbacks. In winter, the road is ploughed and gritted, though snow chains or winter tyres are standard on our vehicles from November through April. The final approach delivers you to the Jahorina resort complex at Poljice, where the main hotels, ski rental shops, and gondola base station are located. On clear days, the ascent offers views back across the Sarajevo valley and east toward the peaks of Romanija mountain.

Practical info

What to expect

Pickup is from any Sarajevo address, including Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ). If you are arriving by air, your driver will meet you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. Ski and snowboard equipment, including bags and boot carriers, is transported at no additional cost — simply note the number of sets when booking so we can ensure the right vehicle size. The vehicle is equipped with winter tyres during ski season. Drop-off is at your Jahorina hotel or apartment entrance, or directly at the gondola base station if you prefer to head straight to the slopes. For return transfers, we offer flexible scheduling — book a set time or contact your driver when you are ready to leave the mountain.
