Sarajevo to Trebevic transfer
Trebevic is the mountain that rises directly above Sarajevo — so close that you can see its forested slopes from almost anywhere in the city, yet a world apart in atmosphere. At just 12 km from the city centre, Trebevic offers cool mountain air, panoramic views across the entire Sarajevo basin, dense pine forests, and a growing collection of family-friendly attractions that have made it one of the most popular day trips for visitors with children.
The star attraction for families is Sunnyland Adventure Park, a sprawling outdoor entertainment complex with rides, trampolines, zip lines, mini golf, go-karts, and extensive picnic areas set among the trees. The park has become enormously popular with Gulf Arab families visiting Sarajevo, offering the kind of green, outdoor, family-oriented experience that is the exact opposite of life in desert climates. Arabic-speaking staff and halal food options make it especially welcoming.
Beyond Sunnyland, Trebevic is famous for the abandoned 1984 Winter Olympics bobsled track — a graffiti-covered concrete ribbon that winds through the forest, now one of the most photographed urban exploration sites in the Balkans. The Trebevic cable car, rebuilt in 2018, connects the city centre to the mountain in just 10 minutes, but a private transfer gives you the flexibility to visit Sunnyland, the bobsled track, restaurants, and viewpoints at your own pace without waiting for cable car schedules.

PremiumWhat the road looks like
The route climbs from central Sarajevo up the winding mountain road through the residential neighbourhood of Bistrik, past the old Austrian-era water reservoir, and into the pine forests of Trebevic. The road is paved and well-maintained throughout. As you climb, views open up across the red rooftops of Sarajevo's old town, the river valley, and the surrounding mountains.
Your driver drops you at Sunnyland, the bobsled track viewpoint, or any of the mountain restaurants and cafes along the route. The summit area (1,629m) offers the most dramatic panoramic views, but most family visitors focus on the Sunnyland area at approximately 1,200m elevation.
What to expect
Pickup is from your hotel or any address in Sarajevo. The drive takes just 20 minutes. Your driver waits on the mountain while you explore — this is a short transfer where having your own vehicle makes all the difference for getting between different mountain attractions.
Sunnyland Adventure Park is open from approximately April through October, with extended hours in summer. Entry fees are modest and activities are priced individually. The park has food kiosks, restaurants, and clean restroom facilities. Halal food is readily available.
The Olympic bobsled track is free to visit and walk along — it is an open-air site with no entrance fee. Wear comfortable shoes as the track surface can be uneven. The mountain restaurants serve traditional Bosnian food with spectacular views — Kod Bibana and Pino Nature Hotel are popular choices.
Trebevic can also be reached by cable car from Bascarsija (old town), but the cable car does not go to Sunnyland. A private transfer gives you door-to-door access to all mountain attractions without hiking between them.
