Leaving SJJ Airport, the route heads east through the Sarajevo suburbs, bypassing the city centre via the southern ring road. The drive passes through the Miljacka river valley and enters the Republika Srpska entity near Lukavica. From there, the road climbs steadily through Pale, the small mountain town that serves as the gateway to Jahorina.
Above Pale, the landscape transforms from valley suburbia to dense pine forest and open alpine meadows. In winter, the snow-covered trees create a magical atmosphere as the road winds upward. The final approach to the resort passes several smaller villages and pension houses before reaching the main hotel zone.
Your driver will take you directly to your accommodation, whether it is one of the large resort hotels near the main ski lifts or a private apartment further along the mountain road.
What to expect
Your driver meets you at the SJJ arrivals terminal with a name board. The vehicle is equipped for mountain driving — winter tyres are mandatory in Bosnia from November to April, and your driver carries chains for extreme conditions.
Ski and snowboard equipment can be accommodated in the vehicle at no extra charge. For groups with multiple sets of equipment, a minivan may be more comfortable — please mention your ski gear when booking so we can assign the right vehicle.
Payment can be made in euros, BAM, or by credit card. There is no border crossing on this route. In summer, Jahorina is equally beautiful for hiking and mountain biking, and the transfer operates year-round.
